Why our kite school?
To learn kitesurfing for us was not as easy as it is nowadays. So we know all the main mistakes that people can make during the learning process. We also understand that sometimes learning a new sport can be frustrating and we know special ways to push your limits.
With more than 15 years of experience in teaching kitesurfing and a Master’s degree of Physical Education, you will be in good hands!
We take our job seriously at Follow The Wind Kiteschool. We don’t believe in the ‘plug-and-play’ mode when it comes to our instructors. As soon as we have a new member in our instructor’s team, we make sure he/she follows our methods and meets our standards! This means everyone in our team has to do a few hours of shadowing and getting to know our ways before starting to teach. Even the ones who apply with many years of experience.
We have a well-tested and well-proven lesson plan that every instructor has to follow!
In our kite school safety comes first!
During the kitesurf lessons you will first learn everything that is needed to be independently safe on the water. (Radio helmet, life jacket, wetsuit included in the lessons)
Kitesurfing has never been easier than in this shallow (max. waist-deep) flat lagoon.
Our policy is quality over quantity!
We teach kitesurfing mainly in small groups or do private lessons for the fastest progression possible.
We truly believe that kitesurfing is for everyone and so far we have been able to prove this!
In addition, we always have up-to-date equipment thanks to RRD, the most well-known brand in Italy.
We have special kitesurf equipment for light winds and for children. The newest Hybrid and Peak from Flysurfer! These kites can fly from 4 knots and you can ride them from 7-8 knots. They are truly a game changer for teaching beginners!
We use radio helmets for advanced kite lessons, therefore you can ride further, and practice more with the comfort of having the instructor with you.
We offer supervised kite rental!
In case you feel insecure, we are happy to stay with you during your kite sessions through the walkie-talkie.
We have different types of kites to rent, and we will help you to choose according to your level.

What you need to bring:
- Water shoes
- Leggings
- Lycra shirt
- Sunglasses with a band
Please come on time!
Our instructors have to arrive 30 minutes before the lessons start so they can prepare your gear and make sure we start on time. We kindly ask you to come 15 minutes before your scheduled lesson so you can change and put all the gear on! Sometimes we have wind only for a short time and arriving late could reduce your lesson time. The wind may come later than expected, in this case, we have a comfortable chill area to spend our time while waiting. Keep in mind that it’s a sport strongly connected to nature’s forces therefore it requires some patience and flexibility.

Wine bar il mulino
If you have a sweet tooth, your favourite meal of the day will be breakfast in Sicily. The croissants are fluffy and filled with thick cream and the coffee is just perfect. We tried a small coffee shop the first year we came here and we are addicted ever since. It’s on the main street of the „kite village”, Birgi, called Il Mulino Bar. Having breakfast there is simply the best way to start the day.
Bar Di Saro:
Saro is another well-known bar on the main street that was opened in 1977. They offer breakfast and lunch at the bar, and the restaurant is open for dinner.
De Vita
Less attractive from the outside, but for sure you’ll be a regular in De Vita too, once you try their speciality: zuppa di cozze (mussle soup). This dish made of fresh mussles, tomato sauce, garlic and parsley is simple yet heavenly. Our other favourite from the menu is the pasta with smoked ham (or shrimp) and pistacchio cream sauce. De Vita also makes undoubtedly the best cannolo in town, which is a traditional sicilian dessert made with ricotta. This restaurant is a family business, so you can see the same faces each time you go there. Friendly service and great value for money.

Supermercato Carrefour
It’s the closest option, right in front of the coffee shop Il Mulino, you can’t miss it! A bit pricy compared to larger supermarkets, but you can find anything you might need for your holiday.

Right next to the supermarket.
Kite shop
If you forgot to bring water shoes, sunglasses, or leggings, this is the place to go. You can also find wetsuits and complete kite gear if you decide to invest in the sport.
