Grotta Mangiapend

Monte Cofano National Park is located between Trapani and San Vito lo Capo. It’s similar to Zingaro, but the beaches are less crowded usually. Our favorite sight there actually is a cave just outside of the national park. Grotta Mangiapane is one of the caves in Custonaci area where prehistoric men settled. The exciting thing about this place is that in the early 1800’s men returned and families lived there until the 1950’s. Visitors today can take a look at how people lived in this small village, what did they work, what tools did they use, how did they keep the animals etc. The whole place looks like everyone just got up and left yesterday, it’s fascinating.
